Local nonprofit Connecting Henry hosted their Lend a Helping Hand Day of Service event on Saturday, November 14, and aided an elderly couple in McDonough that was in need of yard clean-up assistance.

More than thirty volunteers showed up for the service project and worked from morning until afternoon clearing debris, weeds, and brush from the couple’s yard. Workers pressure washed the front of the house and stairs, mowed, pulled weeds, and removed debris in the property’s front and back.

“By the afternoon, the yard was completely unrecognizable,” said Barbara Coleman, Connecting Henry Executive Director. “The couple was very grateful, and we are so appreciative for the volunteers that came out to help Henry County community members in need.”

The wife is a full-time caregiver for her husband and has recently been unable to maintain care of her yard. Over time, the yard became overgrown with weeds and debris and reached an unmanageable state.

Dean Howell with God’s Servants Yard Care will maintain the couple’s yard and ensure that it does not return to its previous state of being overgrown and unmanageable.
