The Hands of Hope Clinic in Stockbridge has been providing health and dental care for Henry County residents living in poverty since 2004. Their 27-year-old dental compressor needed to be replaced because it was breaking down frequently, even during dental procedures on patients. The compressor is necessary because it runs all dental equipment. The Knights of Columbus from St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough set out to solve this problem by raising $5,000 for a brand new compressor. Larrie Garcia, the Grand Knight, John Virag, and a team of volunteers managed parking and overnight campground facilities at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in order to accomplish this goal. This is only one of many charitable causes the Knights support during the course of the year. Amanda Reeves, the Executive Director of Hands of Hope Clinic said, “We are so appreciative of this donation. Without the new compressor we could not perform the dental work so many patients depend on.” She also thanked her staff for their hard work. Photo by Rob DeMarco
