On August 26, Charles “Dick” and Carolyn “Joan” Mellott celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Dick and Joan were born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania. They became sweethearts during childhood and have raised five successful children: Steven, Mark, Michael, Philip and Susan.

After leaving McConnellsburg, they eventually purchased a small Management Services company where Dick handled the customer interaction and Joan handled the office responsibilities. In their early 50s, Dick and Joan sold their company and toured the United States in a recreational vehicle for six- and one-half years. During their travels, they visited all 50 states, and collected a coffee cup from each state.

After ending their journey, they settled in Summerdale, Alabama, where they lived for 30 years. Most recently, they have relocated to Georgia and currently reside in the Lake Spivey area.

Throughout their lifetimes they have created lasting memories with many friends and family. They are wonderful role models for their proud children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
