The Locust Grove City Council voted at its October 4 regular meeting to approve architectural plans for a proposed warehouse building at 2855 Hwy. 42 South, on the east side of the highway between Pine Grove Road and Colvin Drive.
It is a single-story building encompassing approximately 369,300 square feet with concrete on all four sides as well as metal roofing. The plan for the property includes truck docks, trailer storage and car parking with sufficient driveway access to the site.

The council acts as the city’s architectural review board as part of the permitting process for new structures or major renovations.

In other business, the council approved two separate ordinances amending the city’s personnel policy. The first one included a new salary schedule for the addition of a fire marshal position, which is being added to the city’s Community Development Department to provide better service and maintain safety standards. The position could be filled by a contractor if no qualified applicants are found in a reasonable time, according to city staff. The second is to activate a mechanic position which has since 2017 been supplemented by nearby repair shops.

Also on the meeting agenda was a discussion of a recent annexation request to which both the Henry County Board of Commissioners and Henry County Water Authority have objected. No new action was taken by the council on that issue.
