McDonough attorney and City of McDonough Solicitor Pro Tem Andrea Boyd was sworn in July 28 as Chief Judge for the City of McDonough Municipal Court by Mayor Sandra Vincent. This is a historic appointment, as Boyd becomes the first African American and female Chief Judge of the City of McDonough Municipal Court.

She was appointed July 18 in a unanimous vote by Mayor Vincent and the City Council to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Donnie Patten. Boyd has been licensed to practice law in Georgia since 2013 and has served as Solicitor Pro Tem for the City of McDonough.

She has been in private practice in McDonough since 2015 after working as a corporate lawyer for an international Atlanta law firm. Boyd began her legal career as a paralegal for over 20 years prior to law school.

Judge Boyd is well-respected and active in the Henry County community. She is a founding Advisory Board member of the Shaquille O’Neal Boys & Girls Club of Henry County. She serves on the Board and volunteers countless hours assisting various nonprofit organizations for the betterment of Henry County.
