Early voting ending soon as election day approaches

Voters who do not want to wait until Election Day to cast their ballots have a few days left in the early voting period in Henry County.

Any county voter can go to any of the early voting locations to vote in advance: the county’s main election office, 40 Atlanta Street in McDonough; Merle Manders Conference Center, 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge; Fortson Library, 61 McDonough Street in Hampton; Locust Grove Library, 115 MLK Jr. Blvd. in Locust Grove; JP Moseley Park, 1041 Millers Mill Road in Stockbridge; and Fairview Recreation Center, 35 Austin Road in Stockbridge.

All six early voting locations are open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays through Friday, November 4.

If you choose to vote early in person, remember to bring an acceptable form of identification. Acceptable forms of identification include any valid state or federal government issued ID, a student ID from a Georgia public college or university, a valid U.S. Passport ID or a valid U.S. military photo ID.

The general election is Tuesday, November 8. If you wait until then, you will have to go to your respective precinct. There are 37 precincts around the county according to the latest update on the county’s website.

Occasionally a polling location will change by necessity. An emergency change to a polling place was announced in early October due to the original polling location not being available for the election. The Ellenwood precinct’s polling location was moved from Ellenwood Oaks Community Church at 1234 Panola Road and reassigned to Village Park at North Henry, 750 Fairview Road.

You cannot request an absentee ballot now. The last day for that was October 28.

Find your assigned polling place on the My Voter Page at https:// mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/. For more information, contact the Henry County Elections Office at www.co. henry.ga.us under the Elections tab or call 770-288-6463.

The Henry County Elections and Voter Registration Office has a social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. Followers will get frequent updates on polling changes and important dates.
