Dear Editor,

In the present moment of polarization and political crises, in this the twenty-first century, we face implacable fascism, and authoritarianism from autocratic sources, who give no quarter in a clash of visions, bound up with money, race, identity, and faith, resulting in a catastrophic constitutional crisis.

It is long past time to stand up with moral conviction and support the story of justice in America, and recognize once and for all the roots and durability of racism, and know we have the capacity of conscience to shape events and rid ourselves of this cancer. It has been a long, arduous journey, in the quest to live up to the Constitution, and the ideals of the founding fathers. Therefore, press on and answer the call of history, and continue the work to achieve civil liberty, justice and equality.

On January 6, 2021 we nearly lost this experiment in Democracy. This must never happen again, so step into the light, and continue the journey to freedom. Never give up the fight for the soul of America! It is not only possible to change America for the better, but a must if we are to ever be truly free.

Oliver Dotson,
Locust Grove
