Today Georgia-Pacific officially opened its new facility in McDonough to manufacture a popular recyclable padded mailer that the company has supplied to Amazon since 2020. This new plant is part of a 350% increase in manufacturing capacity for the sustainable mailer, enabling Georgia-Pacific to meet growing demand and expand its customer base beyond Amazon.

  • Georgia-Pacific is investing more than $15 million in the McDonough operation.
  • The McDonough operation is built in a 250,000-square-foot facility that is brand new.
  • The buildout of the facility began last year and includes front offices, two production lines and 150,000 square feet of open warehouse/storage space.
  • The site employs approximately 65 workers to help us run the highly advanced converting lines that make the envelopes.

This new capacity and capability puts GP in a unique position to meet the needs of e-commerce (product protection), branding (custom printing) and consumers (sustainable, right-sized packaging) – all with a single product.
