A final plat for a subdivision on Peeksville Road was approved by the Locust Grove City Council at its April 18 workshop meeting.

According to a city staff report, the general concept includes 26 single-family residential lots. The total site is 18.4 acres, of which 9.6 acres will be open space. Minimum lot size is 18,000 square feet, with minimum house sizes set at 2,000 square feet.

That was the only business item on which the council took action at the meeting. A couple of other matters were discussed and will likely be addressed at the May 2 regular meeting.

A public hearing was convened regarding a conditional use request related to a home at 595 Jackson Street. The purpose of the request is to establish guest quarters on the property, remodeling the existing detached garage for that use. The applicant would reside temporarily in the guest quarters while the primary dwelling is rehabilitated, according to a staff report, and eventually use the guest quarters as an in-law suite for the applicant’s family.

Architectural plans were submitted for a building at 301-311 Walker Crossing, and a review-and-comment session was held with the mayor and council acting in their capacity as the city’s architectural review board. The general concept is to construct a single-story rectangular brick building, repealing the existing buildings on the subject property , according to a staff report. The building is expected to be 12,000 square feet.
