Web portal available to report blocked railroad crossings

McDonough Mayor Sandra Vincent recently issued the following release:

“Many citizens have expressed concerns regarding blocked railroad crossings,” said Mayor Vincent.
“We have been meeting and working with Senator Ossoff’s office regarding the problems we are having here in McDonough. Due to the complexity of the problem nationwide, an online portal has been established to collect data. I am asking that you visit the portal, and share your concerns. Access the portal at https://www.fra.dot.gov/blockedcrossings/ and type “McDonough” into the search field. Once the page loads you will need to click on the crossing which you would like to comment on; most likely it will be multiple crossings,” said Mayor Vincent.

You can not make general comments, this website is for reporting tracks when the train significantly impacts movement. ANY ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ABOUT THIS EVENT? (I.E. SCHOOL ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL DISRUPTED; POSTAL OR OTHER DELIVERIES DELAYED; FEWER CUSTOMERS VISITING BUSINESSES, TRAFFIC CONGESTION/GRIDLOCK, ETC.) a 10-15 minute delay in your commute is not a significant event. Certainly the government will analyze the data and only see that Jonesboro Rd is the most delayed and there are many alternate routes that were not reported.
