LifeSouth seeks blood donors before Hurricane Ian hits Florida

As Hurricane Ian threatens Florida, LifeSouth Community Blood Centers urges blood donors to help before the storm hits by giving blood.

LifeSouth officials report Ian could not come at a worse time, as blood supplies are low, and the storm will impact much needed blood drives across Florida, Georgia and Alabama over the next week. Blood donors are needed everyday to make sure blood is available to help patients in local hospitals.

There is no substitute for human blood, and patients rely on blood donations from healthy individuals. Donating ensures blood will be available to help patients suffering from traumas, cancers and chronic illnesses. LifeSouth serves patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Atlanta Medical Center, North Fulton Hospital, Habersham Medical Center, Spalding Regional Medical Center and Sylvan Grove Hospital. Currently all blood types are needed.

To donate blood locally, visit LifeSouth’s McDonough Donor Center, 329 Westridge Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253.
They can be reached at 678-432-0637.

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood center serving patients in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
